Substance Use & Addiction Assessments

Each of us is the sum of our experiences in life. The secret is discovering how those experiences interrelate. The Balm Center offers clinical counseling and human services assistance in the areas described below.

Substance Use & Addiction Assessments

The Balm Center provides comprehensive substance use assessments for adolescents and adults to identify concerns related to alcohol, drug use, substance dependence, and co-occurring mental health conditions. Screening for substance use is routinely incorporated into our mental health assessments & diagnostic evaluations to ensure that substance-related concerns are considered as part of an individual's overall behavioral health and treatment needs. When a more extensive evaluation is clinically indicated or required by a court, probation officer, child welfare agency, healthcare provider, or other referral source, The Balm Center offers specialized substance use assessments utilizing evidence-based instruments and established clinical frameworks, including the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) Criteria and the Addiction Severity Index (ASI), as appropriate. These comprehensive evaluations examine substance use history, severity of use, associated risks, physical and mental health concerns, readiness for change, social functioning, and recovery support needs. Assessments are conducted by appropriately trained and qualified licensed behavioral health professionals or supervised clinicians practicing within their scope of practice. Findings help determine diagnostic impressions, appropriate levels of care, individualized treatment recommendations, and referrals for additional services when necessary. At The Balm Center, our goal is to provide thorough, objective, and compassionate assessments that support early intervention, informed treatment planning, recovery, and long-term behavioral health and wellness.
